true love.

3 04 2009

the hardest thing about moving away has been that i really miss the people that truly love me. i am presently surrounded every single day by people that dont know me, and dont care.

there is no interesting conversation and i find myself journaling all my thoughts because i have nobody to tell them to.

i am really depressed about being a stranger to everyone.

i miss being truly loved…..

This was an awesome breakdown of the current situation.

Now that the problem is clear- america needs to find a solution.  like… now would be awesome. any thoughts?

Photoshoot with Maria

9 09 2008

I did Maria’s make-up and styling for this image, as well as the photo and retouching. I was SO excited to actually see my vision through to the end and to work with another person in the studio. Maria was a pleasure to work with and totally put up with my crazy ideas!

Many many more to come from this shoot, but this is the first.

“The world is not a prison house but a kind of spiritual kindergarten where millions of bewildered infants are trying to spell God with all the wrong blocks.”

Photojournalism 101: Photograph the president visiting small mid-america town

26 07 2008

Yesterday, I got Josh and myself in to photograph President Bush’s arrival and departure from the 182nd AW in Peoria, IL.  250 people were allowed on the list, of military members, family and friends and press.

Besides 5 or 6 people asking “are you with the press?” yesterday,  it was both exhausting and exciting.

It was really intense and I felt like paparazzi…surrounded by other cameras and people hopeful of shaking his hand.

Here are some images from the event.

I submitted images..

Here is one that I submitted.

Tanzania Images in Peoria Journal Star

26 07 2008

I realize I have alot of catching up to do with everyone. So I am going to backtrack and start here.

There was an entire page spread dedicated to this story. Here is a quick snapshot of the paper. A few weeks later there was another story ran in the Pekin Times, with another large story. I have both papers here for my “scrapbook” that I will never finish…

Old image in a new light

9 07 2008

Some recent events inspired me to take another look at my images.

I have started over and I have been rethinking my approach to photojournalism and documentary photography.  I have been trying to make my images fit this pre-determined style I had set out for myself, so much that I have missed the true beauty.  More to come.
